Religion

As I said , I come from a judeo-christian background. Actually being a United Church minister was my first career choice (calling?) however I was too believing for them. I believe in progressive revelation. God (supreme being) has progressively revealed insights as we have been able to learn and understand new concepts. We have gone from the God of the mountain top to an understanding of a universal being. I also believe that the more we understand scientifically, the more we understand about God. Science is a quest for knowledge, of our universe and by extension God as well.

Progressive revelation is two edged, it allows for growth and change, but then are we adapting new beliefs through inspiration or wishful thinking? The one thing I am reasonably sure about is that Christianity did not stop 2,000 years ago.

My feeling is that we will find that God is more a pragmatist then a nurturer, but hey, that's just me. I do think She has a sense of humour.

More to come I am sure. Religion is such a fascinating subject.

Number One

To those expecting a professional well organised blog, then oops this probably won't be it. What I hope is to be able to articulate some points of view to shed some light based on my experience and knowledge and to pass along insights gained from others. I will have a Canadian, middle class, judeo-christian bias although please don't let this scare you off as I may be more open then you think. I actively solicit different points of view in order to increase my knowledge and understanding. I do not look upon changing opinions as a weakness when the change is supported by new facts or understanding. I will try and respect you and your opinions, all I ask is civil dialogue be used. I will be as honest and open as I can without trying to hurt anyone or any group.
Let us begin the journey!
Thanks.
